Description
Wisper
This very fine, fuzzy thread is great for beards and fur in needlepoint, embroidery and cross stitch designs. Pick the green colors to recreate the look of shrubbery, or grays and browns to recreate the fluff of baby birds. It can be brushed to give it a fuller effect.

- Hand washable, test first

Recommendations for needlepoint and cross stitch
Wisper is a thin thread, so you may want to use multiple strands or combine with other threads to get the coverage you want. Here are basic recommendations:
Needlepoint
- 22-mesh: 1 ply
- 18-mesh: 2 ply
- 14-mesh: 3 ply
Cross Stitch
- 10-14 count: 2 ply
- 16-18 count: 1 ply
Tips from a needlework shop
The fabulous shop KC Needlepoint in Kansas City, Missouri, offers tips for stitching with Wisper:
- It’s very thin. However, we think that this is one of Wisper’s greatest strengths, as it can be tailored to fit the mesh count you’re working on. We simply recommend doubling or tripling the thread.
- We recommend using two strands on 18 count canvas for fuller texture and three strands on 13 count.
- Another wonderful thing you can do with Wisper is to blend it with other fibers.
- If it’s not super fluffy once it’s been stitched in the canvas, the fibers may be caught in the mesh. Try using your finger or a soft bristled toothbrush to fluff it back up!
